About Us
The Friends of Guisachan is a non-profit organization established in 2013. It was created to educate the public at large and Golden Retriever owners in particular about the history of the Golden Retriever and the Guisachan Estate in the Scottish Highlands where the breed originated.
In pursuit of this goal, it has: erected a life-size bronze statue of a Golden in the historic village of Tomich where the Guisachan estate is located; published a booklet commemorating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Golden; resurrected the Guisachan tweed and fostered the crafting of many tweed items; and financed the removal of trees from the interior of the mansion ruins as a preamble to the stabilization of part of the ruins themselves.
